Programs for at-risk youth at Avery’s House in Boise, Idaho
Watching their teen struggle is among the most heart-wrenching experiences a parent can have. At Avery’s House, we understand this pain. We’ve designed behavioral and mental health programs tailored specifically for at-risk teens. We’re committed to standing with struggling parents, offering expert guidance and proven strategies to help their teens overcome challenges and flourish.
Residential Program
- Teens in our residential program stay at our comfortable, home-like facility throughout treatment, receiving 24/7 supervision and support from our compassionate team of mental health professionals.
Day Treatment (PHP)
- Our PHP program offers a smooth transition out of residential treatment, providing therapeutic support as teens readjust to life at home, at school, and in other community settings.
Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
- This program is ideal for adolescents who can’t participate in a full-time program due to work, school, or family commitments. It includes 3–4 therapy sessions each week at our outpatient facility.
We accept insurance
We work with most major insurance providers to minimize the cost of treatment for at-risk youth. See if your provider will cover your teen’s treatment costs.
What is an at-risk youth?
“At-risk youth” typically refers to young people who are statistically more likely to experience negative outcomes, such as academic failure, school dropout, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, mental health issues, or criminal activities, due to environmental, familial, and/or personal factors.
It is important to provide these young people with appropriate resources and support systems to help them overcome these challenges and reach their full potential.
It’s crucial to understand that being at risk doesn’t predetermine negative outcomes for a child. With the right interventions, support, and resources, many at-risk youths will overcome challenges and thrive in adulthood.
Risk factors for youth
Several factors contribute to an at-risk classification. They can stem from a child’s environment, family, education, or behaviors. The following are common risk factors:
- Economic deprivation, such as living in poverty.
- Dysfunctional family environment, which may include family disruptions or parental problems.
- Educational challenges, such as academic struggles or a disciplinary history.
- Mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, or other conditions.
- Substance abuse
- Negative peer influences
- Poor community environment, such as living in a high-crime area.
- System involvement, including engagement with juvenile justice or child services.
